It’s hard to give much of a summation of Gravity, particularly not without ruining the relatively straightforward (but still gripping) plot. Sandra Bullock and George Clooney play a pair of astronauts who struggle to survive in space after a series of collisions destroys their shuttle.
It’s also hard to convey the fantastic work that Alfonso and Jonas Cuaron do in simulating the weightlessness of space. The film is incredibly intense — so much so that it freaked me out at times. But it also manages to find a few moments to stop, allowing the audience to breathe, without feeling like it slows down. It manages to be almost no-stop action without being overwhelming.
In the end, Gravity is a story about the will to survive and the strength of human endurance. While not perfect, Gravity is largely a triumph, portraying humans looking for triumphs of their own.
